Leah Kagan is an associate and trial attorney at Levy Konigsberg LLP. Leah joined the firm’s New Jersey practice group in 2010 focusing her practice on asbestos/mesothelioma litigation, with an emphasis on cases involving exposures to talc (industrial and cosmetic), elevators, vermiculite in lawn care products, and protective clothing/equipment.
In 2013, together with Moshe Maimon, Leah tried and successfully obtained a groundbreaking verdict in a cosmetic talcum powder exposure case against the distributor of contaminated cosmetic grade talc. In 2014, Leah obtained $90.5 million in wrongful death verdicts on behalf of eleven families against the foreign companies that sold asbestos to the Johns-Manville Company in Manville, New Jersey.
Prior to joining LK, Leah represented clients in cases involving business torts and products liability. Leah has also worked in the public interest sector with The Women's Law Project as well as The Legal Aid Society - Special Litigation Division representing indigent individuals.
Leah is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, California, and in the United States District Court of New Jersey. She was named a Next Generation Leader by the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy and served on the Executive Committee for the New York Lawyer Chapter. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice (formerly American Trial Lawyers Association). She served as a coach for the Bronx High School for Law, Government and Justice's Mock Trial Team. She is also fluent in Russian.
Leah received her law degree from Rutgers School of Law, Camden in 2009, where she led the mock trial team to the national championship rounds and was awarded the ALI/ABA Scholarship and Leadership Award upon graduation. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History, with a minor in English, from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2006.
