Matthew specializes in representing survivors of sexual abuse, focusing on litigating claims under both the Child Victims Act and Adult Survivors Act. Specifically, Matthew represents survivors who were sexually abused as children by their teachers, priests, foster parents, or camp counselors, as well as those sexually abused as adults by their doctors or correctional officers while incarcerated.

“Whether a victim was sexually abused as a child or an adult, it is my job to help them embrace a voice that has been silenced for too long. While no amount of money can make up for what these victims have experienced, it can help hold those accountable and assist the victims in receiving the necessary treatment in a path towards recovery.”

Matthew has successfully obtained dozens of settlements for his clients at all stages of the litigation. Most recently, Matthew obtained a settlement for a sexual abuse survivor who brought suit 3 years ago and was currently facing dismissal from the Appellate Court.

As a native New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn, Matthew has formed many close relationships with his clients. Matthew’s clients express a great deal of trust in having Matthew as their attorney. Matthew treasures these client relationships and the feedback he receives from clients, such as a recent Google review which states: “my sincere thanks to an absolutely great team of lawyers… especially Matthew Shock for being a wonderful asset, hard worker and someone I can honestly trust. I am extremely thankful and grateful to work with him and this great firm.” Matthew is equally thankful and grateful for the opportunity to represent his clients in their important cases.

In his spare time, Matthew enjoys spending time with his family and friends and traveling the world with his new wife. Over this past summer, Matthew recently married his law school sweetheart and traveled across Europe to celebrate, stopping in Paris and Greece along the way.
