Lead Paint Warnings for Children’s Jewelry
The following is a list of children’s jewelry that have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) because of the high lead content in the jewelry, which, if ingested or inhaled, can cause lead poisoning in children. Warnings are listed by year of release:

Essentials for Kids Jewelry Sets July 5, 2007 – According to the
CPSC, “The recalled jewelry sets include a necklace, bracelet and
pair of earrings made of green, blue or pink plastic beads. The necklaces
have painted metallic pendants in the shape of shoes, girls, blackboards
with “ABCD,” or school buses. The other recalled jewelry sets
include a necklace and seven pendants, one for each day of the week. The
pendants are shaped as sandals, purses or butterflies. “Essentials

Butterfly Necklaces June 19, 2007 – According to the CPSC, “The
recalled necklaces consist of a multi-colored butterfly pendant on a multi-colored
seed bead 16-inch necklace. The product’s packaging includes a white
hang card with “GeoJewelry” printed on the front underneath

Children’s Metal Jewelry sold at Limited Too and Justice retail stores
May 31, 2007 – According to the CPSC, “Some of the recalled
necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and charms are metallic, multi-colored,
and have “High School Musical” or pictures of “High
School Musical” actors printed on them. Others have frogs, hearts,
stars, dogs with dog bones, flowers, and monkeys that hang from silver,
black or brown chains or cords… The jewelry contains high levels
of lead which can cause adverse health effects and is toxic if ingested

2002 through April 2007 May 15, 2007 – According to the CPSC, “The

Co Inc and sold at discount stores, vending machines and grocery stores
throughout the nation May 2, 2007 – According to the CPSC, “The
rings contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young
children and can cause adverse health effects. These rings were subject
to the July 2004 recall of 150 million pieces of children’s metal
jewelry. The firm placed the recalled rings that it had pulled from stores

imported by Cardinal Distributing Co., of Baltimore, MD April 17, 2007
– According to the CPSC, “The recalled necklaces have sports-themed
pendants including blue or green basketballs, yellow stars, “01,”
and “Perfect 10″. The pendants hang from a black cord. The
bracelets include green or pink painted heart-shaped charms and silver-colored
charms shaped as suns, moons, stars, padlocks, keys, rattles, and fishbones.”

2007 – According to the CPSC, “The earrings are oval-shaped,
silver-colored studs. “ACCESSORIES” is printed on the front
of the earrings’ packaging. Kmart is printed on the back…

Metal Key Chains sold at Dollar General stores nationwide from December
2005 through January 2007 April 3, 2007 – According to the CPSC,”
This recall involves three styles of metal key chains including a flip
flop design, dangling charms and a letter. The flip flop charms were sold
in purple, yellow and aqua blue and have a flower at the top. Charms on
the dangling-style key chain include a cross, flower, shamrock, and a
heart that hangs from a short silver chain. The letter-style key chain
is a silver metal letter in the English alphabet. The words “KeyChain”
and “Dollar General $1.25″ are printed on the front of the

According to the CPSC, “The recalled rings are silver in color with
red paint and a simulated diamond cluster on the top. The ring’s
packaging is a yellow card with “Claudia Jublot” printed on
the front and UPC # “1524100121266045” on the back.”

Children’s Butterfly Necklaces January 18, 2007 – According
to the CPSC,” The recalled necklaces have pendants shaped as butterflies
that are painted in various colors. The pendants hang from a black cord.
The necklace’s package is blue cardboard with images of flowers
and butterflies and the words “Butterfly Necklace” printed
on the front and “Item#JA298″ on the back.” For more
